What is ShadowTech?
Shadow a woman working in Information Technology for the day and find out what the job is like, what a daily routine is, and what the benefits and challenges are.
What do we do on the day?
After meeting at a central location, you and a few other students from your school will be escorted to your assigned mentor’s company. Activities during the day vary, depending on your mentor organisation, but usually include things like:
- Workplace tour
- Sitting in on team and/or client meetings
- Sales and marketing discussions
- Meeting other staff and learning about the different tech roles
- Lunch with your mentor – a great time to ask about career paths and options.
How will I know if a career in tech is for me?

Note: The terms ‘tech’ and ‘IT’ (Information Technology) have the same meaning, and relate to jobs in technology and computing.
How do I get involved?
The ShadowTech mentor scheme is for female students in years 9 – 11. Speak to your teacher to see if your school is participating in ShadowTech this year. Your school will provide more details about the day.
